Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, Deafersify are teaming up with Team Sport Liverpool to provide Deaf People with the ultimate driving learning experience.

If you are Deaf and aged between 17 - 30 years old and live in Merseyside then this is the course for you.

​

This 10 Week Project, delivered by experienced Deaf drivers, will take place every Wendesday at Team Sport Liverpool.

This brand new course will provide course participants with guidance on:

 

Understanding the legal requirements for obtaining a licence

Strategies for effective communication during lessons

The different types of assistive technology available

Potential communication barriers with law enforcement officers/pedestrians/cyclists

Advice on road safety

How to maintain a car and how to respond in case of a breakdown.

 

The project will be delivered by Deaf people to ensure clear communication throughout with participants will benefit from:

Increased confidence and independence in their driving ability

Improved hand-eye co-ordination

Enhanced teamwork and communication skills

Increased awareness of road safety and traffic rules

Increased social and cultural interaction.
